Four Essential Steps to Overcome Corruption
Step 1. Pray for Them
As Christians, we are called to pray earnestly for those with corrupted minds — especially government officials and leaders. We have no right to judge them; instead, let us intercede on their behalf. Let us pray that God will awaken their hearts, that His grace will reach them, and that their souls will be saved. After all, they are also children of God and our spiritual brothers and sisters. This is no longer a matter of who is right or wrong — it is a family matter: siblings earnestly desiring the salvation of their own.
Step 2. Remorse and Acceptance
True change begins with genuine remorse — a deep, heartfelt sorrow for the wrongs committed. This must be followed by full acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The story of Zaccheus illustrates this perfectly: when Jesus personally entered his home, Zaccheus was moved to repentance and restitution. Remorse opens the door, and acceptance of Christ seals the transformation. Without these two, no lasting solution is possible.
Step 3. Return to God and Stay Connected to the Vine
A person with a corrupted mind must deliberately turn back to God. This involves sincere remorse and a conscious decision to reconnect with Jesus, who declared, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). Only when we remain connected to Christ can we naturally bear the fruit of the Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Apart from Him, corruption will inevitably return.
Step 4. Forgive
Finally, there must be unlimited forgiveness. When Peter asked Jesus how many times he should forgive, the Lord answered, “seventy-seven times” (Matthew 18:22) — in today’s language, “unlimited forgiveness.” Jesus Himself gave His body on the cross so that our sins — past, present, and future — could be forgiven. We were made righteous before God not because of our own goodness, but because of what Jesus has already done.
This grace is not a license to keep sinning. On the contrary, when we truly understand the price Jesus paid for us, we will desire to live as a living testimony of His transforming power and gladly share the Good News with others.
Disconnect from Him — and corruption will return.
Jesus gave His life so your sins can be forgiven.
So, won’t you also forgive your brother?
Have a blessed day!
God bless you.
