Parables of Jesus Series Starts This October

Parables

Parables of Jesus Series Shekel Icon
As with every parable in this series,
we honor the historical setting
by using the shekel currency symbol and
the 1 shekel coin.

One quiet afternoon, Bernadeth sat across from Josh. The light coming through the window was soft. For a while neither of them spoke. Then she looked at him and asked the question that had been resting in her heart for some time. Kuya Josh… among all the things written in the Bible, ano ba 'yung pinaka-importanteng basahin? 'Yung talagang may bigat? Bernadeth asked quietly. Josh did not answer quickly. He smiled the way he always did when the question was deeper than it first appeared. Then he said quietly.

Josh and Bernadeth beginning the Parables of Jesus series with an open Bible

Simulan mo sa mga Parable ni Jesus sa New Testament. Josh replied.
Short stories lang sila, pero doon makikita 'yung puso ng teaching Niya. About the Kingdom, about the heart, about how we live with God and with one another. Kung gusto mong mas maintindihan si Jesus, magsimula ka doon.
Bernadeth leaned closer. Bakit doon? she asked. Kasi madaling intindihin kahit hindi ka scholar. Mga ordinaryong bagay, farmer, seeds, lupa, net, yeast, pero tumutukoy sa malalim na katotohanan. Perfect na starting point. Josh answered. That simple answer became the seed of this series. Beginning today, we will walk through the Parables of Jesus together, the same stories Josh pointed Bernadeth toward. On selected days throughout October and November, we will share the parable itself, followed by a practical reflection written in the voices of Josh and Bernadeth. These reflections are meant to be open and accessible, even for those who are still searching.

Why It Matters in 2026

In 2026, many people still find the Bible overwhelming. The Parables remain one of the most accessible ways to begin. Simple stories. Deep truth. Still relevant.

Walking through these parables slowly, one by one, is one of the kindest things we can do for our souls this year. They will challenge us, comfort us, and gently prepare our hearts for whatever the coming months hold.

Just as Josh told Bernadeth, these short stories carry the heart of Jesus’ teaching. We will not rush. We will listen. We will reflect. And we will let the stories do their quiet, life-giving work.
