Bernadeth looked across the table, waiting. Sige Kuya, last na ba 'to for today? Bernadeth asked. Josh nodded and turned to the final parable of the afternoon. Matthew 13:47-50. The Parable of the Net. Josh answered.

Bernadeth read the verses carefully. The kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish. When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away. Parang ang seryoso ng ending. May separation. Bernadeth observed quietly. Oo. Hindi lahat ng nahuli ay itatago. May sorting sa dulo. Josh continued. They sat with the weight of the image for a moment. Ibig sabihin, 'yung net kinukuha ang lahat muna. Tapos sa huli, doon nangyayari 'yung paghihiwalay. Bernadeth added. Exactly. Habang nasa loob pa ng net, sabay-sabay. Pero may araw na darating 'yung separation. Josh noted.

Why It Matters in 2026

In a time when many prefer soft endings and open-ended stories, this parable remains firm. The net still gathers widely. People from every background are being drawn in. But the story does not end with the gathering. There is a shore, a sorting, and a final decision. The urgency of sharing the gospel becomes clearer when we remember that the net will not stay open forever.

Just as they were about to close the Bible, Brenda stepped closer to the table, smiling gently. Tama na muna for today. Matagal na kayong nakaupo. Magpahinga muna kayo. Brenda said warmly. Josh and Bernadeth looked at each other, then at the open pages. Oo nga. Ang daming parable in one afternoon. Bernadeth admitted. Magpalit muna kayo ng damit, kumain, magpahinga. Babalik tayo sa November para sa next series. Brenda continued, gesturing for them to stand. Josh closed the Bible carefully. The afternoon light had shifted. The first seven parables were complete. → We continue with the next phase of the Parables of Jesus Series in November. Ang net kinukuha ang lahat muna. Pero may araw na darating 'yung separation. Kaya habang bukas pa 'yung net, maghasik tayo. 'Yung pagsisikap nating ipakilala si Jesus ay parte ng pagtitipon. Ang final sorting, kay God na 'yon.
